Fischerzunft: The sight of this makes my mouth water

January 22, 2009

2-Michelin star chef André Jaeger from the Fischerzunft never shows off. When he plays his unique tone it’s only to seduce his guests completely.  Taking possession of all our five senses. His objective of course: a debauchery of (g)astronomical proportions.

Lookings at his creations I feel like one of Pavlov’s dogs. Mouth watering. But then again: being on autopilot never made that much fun!

Hail to the chef!

Four days of pure pleasure within the circle of friends and mindlike jet setters. And for those who want to switch from a traditional Swiss Bratwurst and beer to something more luxurious find their treat inside the unique CaviarDome of ZwyerCaviar. It’s the first of its kind in St. Moritz and definitely an eyecatcher…

And with this menu is how we celebrate the sport of Kings in St. Moritz…

Another sturgeon symposium in 2009

January 16, 2009

Nashville_2009

There will be a (amongst other fish species) sturgeon symposium this August being held in Nashville (!).

Let me just pass on the invitation of Kenneth Sulak in his own words, sent to me as a commentary (thx for sharing, Kenneth!):

“The North American Chapter of WSCS is also organizing and hosting a sturgeon symposium this August at the American Fisheries Society annual national meeting in Nashville (details on the AFS webpage). The focus will be on how individual North American sturgeons and paddlefish are doing, and what the primary science questions are now and into the future. As a member of the symposium committee, let me confirm that we welcome and encourage culturists and caviar producers to join NAC-WSCS, attend the symposium in Nashville (and/or in China), and actively participate in advancing sturgeon research and conservation. Visit the WSCS webpage for more on our mission, and opportunities to join, get involved, and get access to several major sturgeon publications available through the society.”

ZwyerCaviar LLC – a climate neutral company

January 15, 2009

ZwyerCaviar takes responsibility for its commercial operations. That is why it is striving annually to offset its carbon. Myclimate.org is an international initiative which originated 2002 as an ETH spin-off in Switzerland. But how trustworthy is it?

Recently the prestigious Tufts University (near Boston, Massachusetts) underwent an international evaluation of carbon offset providers. From 170 carbon offset providers worldwide, Myclimate.org got among the top 3.

Reason enough for ZwyerCaviar LLC to be loyal to Myclimate.org and to follow our principles.

Caviarist.com – Member of the W.S.C.S.

New Year intentions. It’s that time of year again. Again and again we vow to some unachievable or half-baked goals. The results are mostly a complete failure. Ashamed by ourselfes, we burry our empty words sometime between summer and autumn.

The Caviarist proves it better (altough there might be some soon-to-be-failed intentions already standing in line…)! In the search for an organization which is really dedicated in the conservation of the sturgeon species and restauration of sturgeon stocks worldwide and which earns a high credibility, I found the answer in the W.S.C.S. (yep, it may sound a bit too religious…).

But let them speak in their words:

“The Society intends to act as an international forum of scientific discussion for all persons interested in pertinent issues on sturgeons while at the same time seeking opportunities for close co-operation at an international level.

The vision for this society is to see stocks thriving once again in important sturgeon waters in the basins of Caspian, Asov, Black, North and Baltic seas, rivers in Siberia and China as well as in the Great Lakes region of the United States and Canada in addition to other North American watersheds. The Society therefore hopes through its activities to enhance the understanding of species protection world-wide and across national borders in regions with different cultural and political backgrounds (using the highly endangered sturgeons as case examples) in order to foster the sustainable use of natural resources that are traded globally. ” to read more…

The World Sturgeon Conservation Society e. V. might be a new thing. But it’s scientific gathering of high profilers within the caviar business is the key. Their commitment is very strong. And so is the commitment of the Caviarist to do really something good for the remaining wild sturgeons - besides this blog.

New Years intentions. It’s that time of year again. But this time, this one is for the winning team!

BTW: The W.S.C.S. is co-organizing this years International Symposium on Sturgeon (ISS6), which is held in Wuhan, China from the 25th to the 30th October.

The Caviarist at the Zurich Silvesterlauf 2008 (8km run)

January 13, 2009

No, it was not the caviar which made me participate in the race. And it wasnt mum’s cookies either. The Zürcher Silvesterlauf is an anual event which offers some great moments for the runners. Why? Because running with thousands of others in the heart of Zurich’s old district and admiring the typical holiday decorations and cutting through a freezing wind promises always some everlasting memories. So much is sure: if I am nearby, I will always attend this.

By the way: in this picture above, taken during the event me and my dear friend Mathias are wearing a vest of the La Martina ZwyerCaviar Limited Edition Collection. Purchasable online!

ZwyerCaviar partner gets ISO

January 8, 2009

We are proud to announce, that our Uruguayan caviar producer Esturiones del Rio Negro S.A. (aka Black River Sturgeons SA) leveled its entire production and comercial departments up to ISO standards.

The certification for the ISO 9000:2000 Quality Managment System and the even more sought-after ISO 14000:2004 Environmental Management System.

ZwyerCaviar may (yet) come from a somewhat exotic, unexpected origin. Uruguay – that is. But its partners are true to their words and follow a strict code of professionalism, credibility and quality/ environmental consciousness.

Caviar meets Hip Hop?

January 7, 2009

Indeed, it’s a long shot. But hey, it’s the 3rd millennium. Everything goes! Hip hop clothes with the wording ‘Caviar’ embroidered, which – sometimes – looks more like a stolen ‘Cartier’ font!

caviar-cartel-2008-fall-winter-collectionjpg

I have to admit that this is not my gusto at all. But there might always be an insecure coming-of-age youngster who would k*** for one of these clothes…

Or in the words of Hypebeast.com:

“Inspired by the notions of luxury through illicit means, the Caviar Cartel from SSUR aims to capture the essence of this concept through their ongoing collections. The reference to caviar itself works its way into the aesthetics of some of the pieces seen here with 3D caviar-esque beaded prints paying homage to the world of luxury that surrounds caviar culture. “

Soon we will spot P. Diddy drinking Cristal Champagne (still?) AND shoveling some imperial caviar into his mouth.
